Meta-campaign

The meta-campaign opportunities detailed below are available to RPGA members. Our plans for future meta-campaign opportunities include Guild membership, increased development in the Gran March major religions, and character-owned businesses. If you have additional ideas for activities for us to add, please contact the Triad.

Each available meta-campaign organization in Gran March has its own document which provides history and organizational information as well as how the Builder Book feats, equipment, and prestige classes are available through meta-campaign options as is described in the LGCS. They contain information you may wish to consider in developing a Gran March character. The available documents are listed at the end of this page.

Each Triad is allowed to decide what constitutes regional documentation for access to feats, spells, equipment, and prestige classes. Regional documentation will now consist of the following:

1. A proper notation (including payment of fees and expenditure of time units if applicable) on a log sheet (Year One), Adventure Certificate (Year Two), or Adventure Record (Years Three and Four) signed by a judge or Triad member. This notation should only be made if the character in question meets all prerequisites required for membership in the organization (skill ranks, Gran March citizenship, etc.);

2. A copy of each meta-campaign organization document the character is a member of;

3. A Metacampaign Record (MR) for each meta-campaign organization document the character is a member of (see below),

3. A copy of the appropriate material as required under the LGCS.

Available Meta-campaign Organizations

First off, every player should get a copy of the Gran March Citizens and Residents document (updated). This details what it means to be a resident of Gran March and what it takes to become a citizen. You can start out as an active-duty soldier in our military, a retired veteran, a former member of the Work Battalions, or just a resident. This document details the basics for all of these. The Gran March Land Ownership document (new) details building construction rules.

Military Organizations

The most influential group in Gran March is the Gran March Military. Even if you do not have a military PC, you should have a copy of these documents in order to understand Gran March society better. The military and its elite units are described in three documents:

In addition to these documents, there are reserve units which have their own documents:

  • The Militia Document. This document provides information on various militia companies which veteran PCs can join.
  • The Syrloch Document details a meta-campaign organization that offers specialized training to warmages, wizards, and sorcerers, including background information and membership requirements. It is a special reserve unit of the Gran March Military. All such arcane casters should at least look through this document.

Finally, many military officers and experienced adventurers are a part of the Knights of the Watch and Knights of Dispatch. The Knights of the Watch/Knights of Dispatch Document provides information on another influential group in Gran March, including information on membership requirements and background information. While this is a year four document, it is still current for the campaign, though it is expected to change this year. A prestige class has been developed for the Knights, but details on its requirements and benefits are revealed to members of the Knighthood as they progress in the order.

Religious Organizations

The General Religion Document provides the overall guidelines for religious organizations in our region. Each of the Eight Major Churches have their own documents as follows (in order of number of followers):

The companion Accepted Religions Document covers how the main religion document applies to the accepted faiths. At some point, we will reintroduce the various flavor text for each religion. Finally, the Hospitalers Document describes an multi-faith organization aiding refugees and religious pilgrims..

Racial Organizations

We now have racial meta-campaign organizations for all of the major races who have communities in Gran March:

No, we do not have a half-orc organization.

Other Organizations

  • The School of Hard Knocks Document (revised) describes an adventurer's club where members can share in development of feats and in the acquisition of knowledge from foreign lands.
  • The Clan Cattail Document (revised) describes a friendly tribe of Flan barbarians who live next to Fort Tribulation in the Rushmoors.
  • The Corporation Document does not exist. The Gran March government has said so.
  • While most of the Major Church maintain their own monasteries (as described in their respective documents), the Work Gang Veterans Document covers all of the monasteries in Gran March.
  • The Orange Grove Monastery Document describes a monastery for small folk.
  • The Bardic Guild Document (revised) is the meta-campaign organization for bards. This also contains information on the other Guilds in Gran March.
  • The Shadowhunters Document (revised) tells about a new organization for year four dedicated to removing all undead from Gran March.

Metacampaign Records

We are now introducing Metacampaign Records (MRs) to our region. This is a one-sheet AR-like document that describes briefly the requirements, benefits, and costs for each level of a metacampaign organization. This is so that you as a player can give one sheet to your DM whenever a question comes up about your PC's metaorg membership. It is a summary, however, and detailed questions should still refer back to the original metacampaign document so you all should still download that document as well.

The entry level MRs are in PDF form in the file section under MR PDFs. These are ones that you can have a DM sign off on. You should download a copy for each org to which your PC is a member. At your next table, you should present your PC's character sheet and any other materials supporting your requirements (such as other ARs), the ARs on which your PC originally joined the organizations, and copies of the MRs. The DM then reviews your PC's sheet to verify membership, notes the AR of original membership on the MR, and signs the MR.

Note that a military PC needs two MRs: one general MR for membership and one branch MR for branch benefits. Sorry, we could not cram all of that info into one MR.

You should have your next DM sign off on your MRs at your next table.

The only entry level MRs not present in PDF form are some of the religious orgs. If you need an entry level MR that is not in the file section, please contact me and we will fix that for you. Otherwise, our religion POC says she will be ready with these MRs some time after Origins.

If you need an MR for a higher level in your PC's organization, contact the POC for the particular branch (ex. military officers should contact the military POC for a copy of your officer MR). This way, the POCs know to whom they have issued the higher level MRs. It is a security measure.

Finally, we have MRs for the Land Office now and I have established a
YahooGroup http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/gm_land_grant_office
for tracking request. I have some requests already, but if you think I might possibly have misplaced the request (quite possible if you made it months ago), you need to post a request to this group. We will set up a database there to record your holdings.
